Requirements & Technicality
Mountaineeirng in the Welsh peaks is a great way to build up your experience you will be shadowed by experienced leaders these weekend exercises can vary depending on the fitness of the group.
Scrambling is a method of ascending rocky faces and ridges. It is an ambiguous term that lies somewhere between hill walking and rock climbing. It is often distinguished from hill walking by defining a scramble as a route where hands must be used in the ascent. this is the transition between Hill walking & climbing, with many easy climbs sometimes referred to as difficult scrambles.
Scrambling routes are graded from 1 to 3. Grade 1 is unlikely to require a rope but would involve steep and often exposed ground, where good route choice is important. Grade 2 requires the use of a rope and basic rock climbing skills to negotiate steeper ridges and gullies. Grade 3 is constant steep scrambling and a rope is used throughout. A head for heights and some hill walking experience is required for all our scrambling exercises.
We appreciate that you may wish to discuss arrangements before committing to an activity and encourage you to contact us via email or on: Office: 0208500 3323 – Mobile: 07967589289
Our Photographer And Photography

"Through hardship friendship is built through friendship great things are accomplished."
We can organise our leaders to meetup on the Friday night but officially we start Saturday morning.
We officially meet up early Sat morning where the guide will brief everyone on the available routes depending on weather, strength & experience of the group (Please enquire for private bookings.)
You will have enough time to prep your kit, have a bite to eat and get going. If it’s Snowdon, Tryfan, Glyder Fach or a particular classic route such as the Grib Goch ridge to summit Snowdon these will all be options.
There will be breaks throughout the day giving you a chance to take some great photos and appreciate the scenery or ask questions and gain some knowledge along the way.
After your day in the mountains we will wild camp (Tents Available for hire) honing your camp craft, going over water collection, cleaning , stove setup and cooking.
Once the light has faded we will have a chance to get out and do a brief night navigation on pacing & timing then back to the tents for a cuppa and bed.
Wake up around 6 am for a short route aiming to end around midday as travel for most can be quite long. Route options will be discussed the day before and camp will be setup according to the objective for Sunday.
Please note all our guides like taking photos, these pics will be posted on our Facebook group page : https://www.facebook.com/AscentMountaineering
